Teen Library Ambassador Program

The Teen Library Ambassador program (TLA) is a group of up to 20 teens in grades 6 to 12 who provide feedback on teen library services and assist the library with volunteer tasks. New and returning members are selected based on their application, which should demonstrate a desire to promote reading, the ability to work cooperatively with others, and a commitment to attend meetings regularly.

About the TLA Program

Teen Library Ambassadors must have a Lucius E. & Elsie C. Burch Jr. library card and be able to attend monthly meetings. Ambassador meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month in the library’s Halle Room from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Members who miss two meetings in a semester are no longer eligible for the program.

TLA is divided into two semesters: Fall and Spring. The Fall semester meets from September through December, and the Spring semester meets from January through April. A separate application is required for each semester. Applications for the Fall and Spring semesters generally open in July and November, respectively. When available, applications will be posted on the Library's Events Calendar. Teen Library Ambassadors are not selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Instead, library staff review each application and make decisions based on the responses provided.
