Local Rules of the Road (Town Ordinance § 71.15)

While we follow Tennessee state laws, the Town of Collierville has specific local ordinances to ensure the safety of our pedestrians and the flow of traffic in our unique business districts. 

  • Sidewalks & Business Districts: To keep our shoppers and diners safe, riding a bicycle on a sidewalk within a business district is prohibited. Please walk your bike or use the roadway in these high-pedestrian areas. (§ 71.15-I)

  • Keep Your Hands Free: Safety requires focus. It is unlawful to carry any package or bundle that prevents you from keeping both hands on the handlebars. (§ 71.15-D)

  • Passenger Safety: You may only carry as many people as the bike was designed for. All passengers must be on a permanent, regular seat; no riding on handlebars or pegs. (§ 71.15-B/C)

  • Smart Parking: When you arrive at your destination, please park your bicycle in a rack or against a building in a way that provides the least obstruction to people walking on the sidewalk. (§ 71.15-K)
