Code Compliance
Overview:
The Code Compliance Department ensures compliance with the Town's Codes, Zoning Ordinances and the International Property Maintenance Code. It addresses violations such as overgrown grass, weeds, trash, inoperable vehicles, and other nuisances that may negatively affect nearby properties and the community.
Homeowners and business owners are responsible for keeping their properties safe and maintained. A lack of adequate property maintenance can negatively impact both the residents' quality of life and the surrounding community.
Compliance:
Potential violations are identified through citizen inquiries, referrals from other departments and officer observations. Upon receiving an inquiry, an officer investigates to assess if an ordinance violation exists. If a violation is found, the officer may notify the owner verbally or with a written courtesy notice. The owner is typically given 7 to 10 days to address the violation. After the issue is corrected, the officer conducts a follow-up inspection to ensure compliance.
Report a Violation:
To report a possible violation, please use the online Mayor's Action Center or call the Building and Codes Department at 901-457-2310.
