Why adopt a shelter pet?

When you adopt a pet from the Collierville Animal Shelter, you have personally given that animal a second chance at life.

Before You Visit

Once your application is reviewed and approved, a staff member will contact you to set up an appointment.
Adoption hours are Monday through Sunday from 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm. The Collierville Animal Shelter is located at 603 E. South Street, Collierville, TN 38017.
Adoption appointments are scheduled for an hour at a time. If you are unable to make a decision within that timeframe, our staff will set you up with another appointment to come back.
We encourage you to bring members of your household to your appointment if possible, because adopting a pet typically affects everyone living in the home.
Cash, check or charge accepted to pay for the adoption fee of $50. The adoption fee covers:
- Vaccinations
- Heartworm testing (adult dogs)
- Heartworm treatment (positive dogs)
- De-worming of puppies and kittens
- Feline Leukemia/f.i.v. testing (cats)
- I.D. with Microchipping
- Spay/neuter

Adoption Policy

You must be at least 18 years of age, have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in your household to adopt a pet, and have valid identification.

It is not the Animal Shelter's intent to make pet ownership seem inexpensive or unrealistically easy. Our goal is to attract responsible pet owners and to help them provide permanent, loving homes. To that extent, we ask you to give serious thought to the responsibilities of pet ownership.

Adoption of animals as surprise gifts is not permitted, due to the intent required to properly care for an animal. We suggest that individuals select their own pets or surprise the person with a trip to the shelter to pick out a pet. Gift certificates are also available to purchase that would cover the cost of the adoption.
