Planning Commission
Purpose, Duties and Authority of the Board:
The purpose of the Planning Commission (PC) is to develop and adopt a future land use plan, major road plan, and subdivision regulations for the community. The PC makes recommendations to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BMA) for amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, Zoning Map, Planned Developments (PDs), Preliminary Site Plans, and Conditional Use Permits (CUPs). The PC also considers the subdivision of land.
The mayor has sole authority to appoint PC members.

The Commission consists of nine members, each serving a one-year term ending December 31. Members include the Mayor or a designee, one BMA liaison elected by the BMA, and seven citizens appointed by the Mayor. All members must be Town residents. The Planning Commission elects its Chairman.
Schedule:
Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM in the James H. Lewellen Board Chambers at Town Hall.
