Purpose, Duties and Authority of the Board:

The Board is responsible for reviewing appeals of decisions made by the Building Official or Fire Code Official regarding the interpretation and application of building, construction, and fire codes. It also provides recommendations to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on code adoption and amendments and advises the Building Official on the suitability of alternative materials and construction methods.

The Board consists of seven members with expertise in technical codes, including design professionals, contractors, or building industry representatives. Members serve one-year terms ending on December 31, and officers are elected annually. There are no residency requirements to serve.

Schedule:

Regular meetings are the third Thursday of the month. Meetings are usually "at call".
