A new Lunch and Learn will happen this Thursday, April 14 at 12:00 PM. Doug Cupples, Adjunct Professor at Christian Brothers University will speak on the Marriage of the Waters, a ceremony that took place in 1857 in Memphis to celebrate the opening of the first railroad to span the country from the Mississippi River to the Atlantic Coast. This event is free.
Five Lakes is an exhibit of haunting black and white photos by local photographer/artist Houston Cofield. His subject is the environment of the Five Lakes Outing Club in Crittenden County, Arkansas. Five Lakes is on display in the Community Art Gallery until May 14.
The Iris Orchestra will present an evening chamber concert at the Morton Museum on Tuesday, May 24, from 6:30-8:00 pm. The concert is titled Music in Bloom and is inspired by the vibrant shapes and colors of seasonal blooms.
Following the performance, there will be a thirty-minute reception with the chance to chat with the orchestra members! Refreshments will be provided.
You have until May 28 to view Beebe and Clegg: Their Enduring Photographic Legacy at the Morton Museum. Lucius Beebe and Charles Clegg introduced the general public to railroad photography in the early 20th century, and this collection of 20 of their black-and-white photographs is a concentrated representation of the 30 books the two produced together.
