Linda Kerley Center continues to offer a wide range of arts classes through non-profit Creative Aging
Post Date:02/24/2022 11:00 AMThe Linda Kerley Center has new Senior Studio arts workshops scheduled through the end of April:
Monday, February 28 at 1:00 pm - Colorcopia: Painting Noon ‘Til Night. Instructor Shawna White is with the Dixon Gallery & Gardens. This class will follow the example of artist John Leslie Breck (1859-1899) in creating art that explores light during morning and evening while focusing on the same subject matter.
Wednesdays, March 9, 16, 23, 30 and April 6, 13. 10:30 am-12 noon – Abstract Painting. Instructor Sarah Nowlin will lead attendees in exploring artists of abstract art movements, and then creating a painting borrowing from that style and point of view. Limit 12. Supplies are provided.
Thursdays, March 17, 24, 31, & April 7. 14, 21. 1:30 pm – Creative Dance Mix. Instructor Kristen Lucas will teach a variety of movement styles and dance fundamentals.
These classes are all free, thanks to the Linda Kerley Center’s contract with Creative Aging, a local non-profit agency which provides arts workshops as well as musical and theatrical performances for over 30,000 seniors in the Mid-South area each year. These events take place in senior centers like the Linda Kerley Center, independent and assisted living facilities, and at Theatre Memphis.
