We understand that in the absence of detailed public information, speculation can arise; however, the Town is committed to handling this matter with the objective professionalism and due process that our employees and residents deserve.
The special-called public meeting originally scheduled for today, August 14 at 2:00 p.m. will be moved to a date to be determined to allow both parties to meet a resolution. The Board of Mayor and Aldermen will hold a closed attorney-client privilege consultation Friday, August 14 at 12:30 p.m. to discuss personnel matters.
To provide clarity on how this process is governed, the Town operates under a specific charter structure. Per the Town of Collierville Charter, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen (Article IV) serves as the legislative body, while the Town Administrator (Article V) is charged with the day-to-day administration of the Town, including personnel matters. The decision to place the Fire Chief on leave was an administrative action executed within that authority and in accordance with established personnel policy. The Town Administrator has maintained continuous communication with the Board of Mayor and Aldermen throughout the process to ensure complete transparency among Town leadership.
