As the United States approaches its 250th birthday on July 4, 2026, the Town of Collierville is ensuring our community shines for the celebration. What began as a formal commitment last fall has blossomed into a statewide leadership effort to beautify Tennessee and the nation.
From Pledge to Action
The journey began in November 2025, when Mayor Maureen Fraser officially signed the pledge to join Keep America Beautiful’s (KAB) Greatest American Cleanup. Flanked by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and the Town Beautiful Board, Mayor Fraser committed the Town to a cleaner, greener future. (The Board is pictured below presenting a proclamation to the effort.)

"This pledge shows our commitment to a cleaner, greener Collierville," said Mayor Fraser. "I encourage all residents to take pride in our Town as we prepare for America’s 250th birthday."
The Town immediately put those words into motion, partnering with the Town Beautiful Commission and TDOT’s No Trash November initiative to kick off local cleanup efforts (shown below).

A Milestone in Memphis
On March 12, 2026, that momentum continued as Town representatives gathered in downtown Memphis for the Keep Tennessee Beautiful (KTNB) Greatest American Cleanup luncheon.
The event highlighted the leadership of our very own Alderman Missy Marshall, who serves as the Executive Director of KTNB (pictured below). Marshall has been instrumental in rallying leaders across the state to join this "heroic effort" to prep the country for its milestone birthday.

The Goal: 25 Billion Pieces of Litter
The mission is ambitious: Keep America Beautiful aims to remove 25 billion pieces of litter from parks, waterways, and public spaces by July 4, 2026.
Collierville’s leadership is being recognized on a national scale. Jennifer Lawson, President and CEO of Keep America Beautiful, praised the Town’s early adoption: "Collierville’s commitment is a wonderful example of how communities are coming together to keep our nation beautiful. We hope their leadership inspires others."
