In preparation for America’s 250th birthday, Collierville Mayor Maureen Fraser has signed an official pledge to participate in Keep America Beautiful’s Greatest American Cleanup.
"I am honored to join Keep America Beautiful’s Greatest American Cleanup,” Mayor Fraser said. "This pledge shows our commitment to a cleaner, greener Collierville. I encourage all residents to participate and take pride in our Town as we prepare for America’s 250th birthday."
Mayor Fraser was joined by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and the Town Beautiful Board to celebrate the signing. Keep Tennessee Beautiful Executive Director Missy Marshall, also an alderman for the town, was on hand to mark the occasion.
“I want to commend Mayor Fraser for being a leader against litter,” Marshall said. “This is an important step in rallying our community to participate in the Greatest American Cleanup. I encourage other leaders around Tennessee to sign the pledge and join this heroic effort to clean up America for our birthday celebration.”
KAB’s goal is to remove 25 billion pieces of litter from parks, waterways, and public spaces by July 4, 2026. The organization is seeking groups of all kinds – big, small, young, old, non-profits, government, schools, book clubs and more – across the USA to pledge their support for the Greatest American Cleanup, commit to cleaning up their community, and inspire others to do the same.
“We couldn't be more pleased that Mayor Fraser and the Town of Collierville have pledged support for the Greatest American Cleanup as we prepare to celebrate America’s 250th birthday,” Jennifer Lawson, president and CEO of Keep America Beautiful, said. “Collierville’s commitment to this effort is a wonderful example of how communities across the U.S. are coming together to keep our nation clean, green, and beautiful. We hope Collierville’s leadership inspires other towns to join this important effort.”
Mayor Fraser, Missy Marshall and board members quickly put the pledge into action and joined The Town Beautiful Commission members in a Collierville cleanup. This event was part of TDOT’s No Trash November initiative in support of the Nobody Trashes Tennessee statewide litter prevention awareness campaign.
The Town Beautiful Commission works to enhance and preserve the community’s natural and man-made beauty while advising the Board of Mayor & Aldermen on aesthetic and environmental matters, promoting beautification efforts, and supporting initiatives that maintain the town's visual appeal.
