In support of the Town of Collierville’s recent announcement to expand its library, the Friends of the Collierville Library, in a unique public / private partnership, has committed to raising up to one-third of the expansion’s $12 million projected cost.

For nearly 75 years, the Friends of the Collierville Library, a 501 c 3 nonprofit and its predecessor, The Collierville Contemporary Club, have supported the library in its growth.

Following ten years of planning, this expansion will focus on four critical priorities:

  • A renovated and expanded Children’s area
  • A new, flexible, multi-use space for programming, community meetings, events, etc.
  • An expanded Teen area to include a new content creation / Podcast studio
  • Gathering spaces for adults to meet and learn

Learn more about the expansion here.

“The current library falls below State of Tennessee standards of 0.5 square feet per capita. This expansion will help us not only meet, but exceed, state standards to better serve our community”, said Lisa Plath, Library Director.

Julia Webley, President of the Collierville Friends of the Library said “The Friends are proud to continue their support of the library’s growth. We will make our best efforts to generate significant private donations to assist in this expansion”.

In the coming weeks, representatives will be contacting community residents, Collierville based businesses, and local family and community foundations seeking support. Over 25 “naming opportunities” will be available ranging from $5,000 to $1,000,000 for donors to attach their names to this worthy effort.

For information, please contact Lisa Plath at (901) 457-2600 or Julia Webley at (901) 457-2606.
