If you’ve ever wondered what’s being built around Town or what those green “pending development” signs mean, the Town of Collierville has a tool to help answer your questions.
At the June 23 Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting, Town Planner Jaime Groce introduced the updated Development Activity Map. The original map was nearly 10 years old, and staff said it was time for a refresh.

“We’re hoping this new map helps get the facts out there,” said Groce. “Not just what’s happening now, but also the history and future of what’s being built. Some of these projects go back decades, and this map helps tell the full story.”
What’s New?
The updated map is easier to use and designed for mobile phones. It has:
- Clear, color-coded dots to show where each project stands
- More pictures and less professional jargon
- Fewer clicks to get the latest information
- “Development Stories” that explain the history and timeline of big projects
Each project includes a pop-up box with:
- Project name and location
- A picture and link to more details
- Application type and status
- Meeting dates, staff contacts, and related videos
Why It Matters
This map helps fight misinformation, keeps neighbors in the loop, and makes it easier to learn about the Town’s development process.
The update was created in-house using software the Town already owns, thanks to GIS Manager Brant Sollis. Town staff looked at maps from other cities for inspiration but built Collierville’s version from scratch relying on input from a community focus group.
The updated map is now live at colliervilletn.gov/maps and will be promoted to the public over the next several weeks.
