W want to remind everyone how Collierville’s outdoor warning sirens are used. Hopefully, they won’t be needed, but now is a great time to refresh everyone on their purpose.
When Sirens ARE Activated:
- A tornado warning is issued by the National Weather Service, and any part of Collierville is within the warned area.
- Warnings are based on geographic zones (polygons)—so sirens may sound in other parts of Shelby County while Collierville remains silent if we are not in the warning zone.
- Sirens may also be used for major disasters or emergency alerts affecting the area.
What Sirens DO NOT Mean:
- They are not activated for severe thunderstorm warnings.
- They are outdoor alerts only and may not be heard indoors.
Weekly Siren Testing:
Every Saturday at Noon, unless cloudy or inclement weather is expected to prevent confusion.
