Outdoor Siren Reminder

Post Date:04/03/2025 12:12 PM

W want to remind everyone how Collierville’s outdoor warning sirens are used. Hopefully, they won’t be needed, but now is a great time to refresh everyone on their purpose.

When Sirens ARE Activated:

  • A tornado warning is issued by the National Weather Service, and any part of Collierville is within the warned area.
  • Warnings are based on geographic zones (polygons)—so sirens may sound in other parts of Shelby County while Collierville remains silent if we are not in the warning zone.
  • Sirens may also be used for major disasters or emergency alerts affecting the area.

What Sirens DO NOT Mean:

  • They are not activated for severe thunderstorm warnings.
  • They are outdoor alerts only and may not be heard indoors.

Weekly Siren Testing:
Every Saturday at Noon, unless cloudy or inclement weather is expected to prevent confusion.
