The Town of Collierville has started the rollout of an Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) water metering system, a cutting-edge upgrade designed to enhance the delivery and management of water services for all customers.
Key Benefits of the AMI System:
- Enhanced Accuracy and Transparency: Precise water usage readings ensure accurate billing and detailed usage insights, empowering customers to better manage their water consumption.
- Proactive Leak Detection: Early identification of leaks helps prevent costly surprises and supports water conservation.
- Improved Customer Service: Real-time data enables faster response to service requests and alerts for unusual water usage or potential system issues.
- Efficiency and Convenience: The automated system eliminates manual meter readings, reducing operational costs and enhancing service delivery.
- Sustainability: The AMI system supports responsible water usage, contributing to the preservation of natural resources.
The installation of AMI smart meters began in October and is expected to be completed by April of 2025. Approximately 14,400 manual-read meters will be replaced, and 5,300 radio-read meters will be upgraded with AMI antennas to serve both residential and commercial customers.
Frequently Asked Questions:
