Get in Gear - CPD’s Annual Classic Car Show Returns September 17th

Post Date:09/14/2022 1:50 PM
Make a pit stop at the Collierville Police Department’s 23rd Annual Classic Car Show on Saturday, September 17th. The event will take place from 7:30am to 3pm and Central Church, 2005 Winchester Road, will host for the 22nd year. All proceeds from the fundraising event will benefit the Collierville Education Foundation.

The family friendly show, a favorite of the public and the Mid-South car community, is free to spectators and features music, food trucks, activities, and classic cars on display. The fundraiser has had as many as 400 car entries at one event and many car owners return every year.

Cars, trucks, tractors, military vehicles, fire trucks, and bikes are all welcome at the Show. Owners can preregister their vehicles at colliervillecarshow.com/register or register at the event from 7:30 am to noon. The entry fee is $25 and registered participants will automatically be entered into a drawing to win cash prizes. Specialty plaques will be awarded by Landers Ford, The Collierville Education Foundation, Central Church, Mayor Stan Joyner, and Chief of Police, Dale Lane.

The Car Show was founded in 2000 by Chief Larry Goodwin and Special Citizen Volunteer Program Member Charlie Shaw. The two men, both avid car enthusiasts, created the event to increase the CPD’s engagement with the Collierville community and to raise funds for local non-profit organizations. The fundraiser has raised approximately $600,000.00 during its 23-year duration. Longtime host Central Church and sponsor Landers Ford are huge contributors to the success of the event year after year.

“Central Church continues to be a great host every year and the Classic Car Show could not exist without the corporate sponsorship of Landers Ford. Landers has been a great partner to the Collierville Police Department and the Collierville Education Foundation,” said Car Show Organizer Charlie Shaw.

The Collierville Education Foundation, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, has been the recipient of the fundraiser since 2008. CEF has championed educational excellence in the Collierville public schools through fundraising for the last 25 years. CEF distributes grants directly to teachers to further enrich, enhance and expand every Collierville student’s education. Learn more about CEF at colliervilleeducationfoundation.org.
