The Collierville Burch Library is well known for offering great customer service to its patrons.

They regularly hear feedback like “Staff is always friendly and helpful”, “accommodating”, “has people available to answer questions and assist.” A good deal of that helpfulness happens at the checkout desk where the Circulation staff assists with patron accounts and checking out materials.
At the heart of great organizations are exceptional managers. Gail Tucci is the manager of the friendly and helpful checkout staff who serve library patrons at the desk. Gail has worked at the library for the past thirteen years, the last eight years as Circulation Supervisor.
Gail’s responsibilities touch on many facets of library operations beyond Circulation. She took charge of leading the RFID tagging project recently completed by the library staff. She scheduled employees from all the departments as well as communicated with the three temporary employees hired to work on the project. It was Gail’s idea to rotate employees every hour to make a very tedious task more enjoyable.
In addition to scheduling, she handled cart set-up, unusual or problematic items, and ensured equipment worked properly and supplies were in place. She did all of it within her normal schedule, having to prioritize it over many of her regular tasks. Gail was the day-to-day manager of the project, the keeper of the people, equipment, supplies and statistics. She took ownership and responsibility to ensure the tagging finished by its deadline at the end of April.
Gail epitomizes what Town of Collierville employees are like. She does her job with an incredible amount of grit and determination, and she always does it with a smile. Her staff will tell you she is a great boss, kind and considerate. Her 8 years as a lawyer in a previous career may be the reason that as a supervisor, she is also judicious and fair.
