What's The Job?
Working as the Plant Mechanic, you can expect to perform skilled maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance work on a wide variety of equipment essential to the operation of the Town’s utility facilities. In this role, you will inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, and DC electrical systems associated with pumps, valves, motors, flow control devices, variable speed drives, screens, service vehicles, and other plant equipment. Responsibilities include conducting routine inspections of equipment and operating conditions, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, replacing worn components, performing preventative maintenance, and assisting with the overhaul and repair of specialized equipment such as air compressors, hydraulic systems, and chemical feed systems. You will also operate a variety of tools, vehicles, and equipment to support maintenance activities, maintain accurate records of inspections and repairs, and perform general upkeep of equipment, shops, and work areas to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical work, problem-solving, and playing a critical role in maintaining the infrastructure that serves the Collierville community.
Minimum Requirement
Here is what you must have to be considered for the position of Plant Mechanic:
• High school diploma or GED with concentration in a vocational program
• Four (4) years previous experience and/or training involving the operation and repair of wastewater pumping equipment or wastewater treatment plant equipment, at least one (1) of which must have been in a mechanical maintenance and repair capacity; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License.
