Welcome to the Collierville Police Department’s web page. It is an honor to serve as your Chief of Police. Our team is committed to excellence in all we do and to keep Collierville one of the safest and best places to live in our state.

The Collierville Police Department is accredited through the Tennessee Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (TLEA). We are also nationally accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

Our focus is on leading a whole community approach to reducing crime and the fear of crime. We accomplish this by building relationships in the community and making problem solving a priority at every level of the organization. Data driven principles, combined with actionable information, provides the foundation for our crime reduction strategies. This includes the areas of prevention, intervention, and interdiction.

This strategy includes leveraging technology to make our team more efficient and effective.  We also work closely with our law enforcement partners across the region to share information and resources to address the root causes of crime.

What's The Job?

Working as a School Crossing Guard, you can expect to control traffic and pedestrians in such a manner that school children are not endangered when crossing the street/intersection. You will coordinate and time the stopping of traffic in such a way as to not cause congestion; determine which traffic problems must be alleviated first; and alleviate school congestion whenever possible. You must also caution/report drivers who violate school crossing or pedestrian rights-of-way and be responsible for regularly checking caution signs/signals at designated points before going on duty and at the end of each shift.

Minimum Requirements

Here is what you must have to be considered for the position of School Crossing Guard:

  • High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by one (1) month related work experience and/or training; OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must receive special in-house training programs in traffic control.
