What’s The Role?
Working as an Athletic Crew member, you can expect to maintain and prepare athletic fields and park facilities for daily use and special events. Duties include dragging and raking infields; chalking, lining, and painting sports fields to regulation dimensions; preparing baseball fields; adding infield mix and inspecting field conditions; and performing aerification and topdressing. This role also involves operating mowers to maintain fields, edging sidewalks, repairing fences, and maintaining landscaped areas by spreading pine straw, mulch, sand, gravel, or other materials; laying sod or seeding grass; and applying fertilizer, pesticide, and herbicide as needed. Additional responsibilities include blowing debris from walkways, collecting and disposing of litter, emptying trash containers, and cleaning and servicing concession stands and restrooms. You will also assist with setting up and breaking down for events and activities, installing holiday decorations, and lifting, moving, loading, and transporting equipment, outdoor furniture, and other materials. Occasional weekend work may be required.
Minimum Requirements
Here is what you must have to be considered for the position of Athletic Crew:
- High School Diploma or GED; attention to detail and knowledge of athletic activities and maintenance/repair of athletic field is preferred.
- Previous experience and/or training in landscape maintenance and/or general maintenance work in area of assignment; OR any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Valid Driver’s License
