What's The Job?

As a Utility Maintenance Specialist, you will perform a variety of manual and responsible tasks involving both unskilled and semi-skilled work that supports the Town’s utility operations, maintenance, and repair functions. This physically demanding role includes assisting with the coordination and installation of new water mains, repairing existing mains, and maintaining or repairing pumps, valves, meters, lift station equipment, and other components of the utility system. You will also help maintain and repair the pumping plant, respond to customer concerns regarding water pressure and quality, take water table measurements at well sites, make water taps, and turn water services on or off as needed. In addition, this position may require responding to emergency situations, such as pump room equipment failures or water main breaks, outside of regular business hours.

Minimum Requirements

Here is what you must have to be considered for the position of Utility Maintenance Specialist:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Two (2) years previous experience and/or training in labor support to municipal sewer or water system maintenance/repair crews
• Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License, and must have “N” endorsement within three months of hire.
