Welcome to the Collierville Police Department’s web page. It is an honor to serve as your Chief of Police. Our team is committed to excellence in all we do and to keep Collierville one of the safest and best places to live in our state.

The Collierville Police Department is accredited through the Tennessee Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (TLEA). We are also nationally accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

Our focus is on leading a whole community approach to reducing crime and the fear of crime. We accomplish this by building relationships in the community and making problem solving a priority at every level of the organization. Data driven principles, combined with actionable information, provides the foundation for our crime reduction strategies. This includes the areas of prevention, intervention, and interdiction.

This strategy includes leveraging technology to make our team more efficient and effective.  We also work closely with our law enforcement partners across the region to share information and resources to address the root causes of crime.

The Town of Collierville is hiring for a Police Explorer to join our Police Department! If you are looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference in your community, look no further! Please note you must already be a current Collierville Police Explorer.

What's The Job?

Working as a Police Explorer, you can expect to perform a variety of administrative and customer service duties, including assisting the public in person, by phone, and by mail by providing information about department services, procedures, and fees, and helping resolve routine questions or complaints. You'll support daily operations by preparing and processing reports, forms, correspondence, press releases, subpoenas, and other official documents. You'll review and manage incoming documents such as police reports, affidavits, and crime scene reports, ensuring they are accurately processed, filed, or forwarded. Maintaining organized file systems, handling confidential materials, and operating standard office equipment—including computers, scanners, and transcription tools—are also part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you'll communicate and coordinate with law enforcement personnel, other departments, court staff, attorneys, and the general public to support the department’s mission and ensure smooth workflow.

Minimum Requirements

Here is what you must have to be considered for the position of Police Explorer:

  • The knowledge equivalent of a 9th grade education; supplemented by previous experience and/or training involving basic computer skills, office administration, secretarial work, basic bookkeeping, customer service, record management, data entry, filing and experience in area of assignment; data entry and typing speed at an acceptable level to the Department; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Valid Driver’s License
